How To Root Tecno W4

Tecno W4 runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. The first Tecno Phone to come with this android OS.


What is needed to root the Tecno W4 smartphone:

• Working USB cable
• VCOM drivers
• SP Flash Tool
• SuperSU zip file
• TWRP for Tecno W4

Rooting The Tecno W4

1. Firstly VCOM drivers have to be installed on your PC.
2. Download SuperSU 2.66.zip
3. Copy SuperSU.zip to both the phone’s SD card and internal storage
4. Download TWRP for Tecno W4
5. TWRP for Tecno W4 
6. Switch off the phone (still with battery inside
7. Flash the TWRP recovery.img to the phone using SP Flash tool
8. Boot the phone into recovery mode using Volume up button + Power button
9. In TWRP, if you get a prompt asking you to swipe to allow TWRP modify the system partition then go ahead and swipe. To swipe, place your finger on the green circle then slide it to the right
10. In TWRP recovery, tap Install
11. Navigate to the location of the SuperSU.zip and select it
12. Swipe to confirm flashing of SuperSU.zip and wait till flashing is complete
13. Reboot the phone normally
14. Confirm Root by installing and running Root Checker
